My hero: The beautiful city of Dijon!

How wonderful it is to be in France!! I thank God for allowing me this opportunity and keeping Drayton and me safe! I am writing from the warm hotel bed in the wonderful city of Dijon, France (yes, famous for Dijon mustard), but let me start from the beginning...

I got a sinus infection on our connection flight to Philadelphia. Therefore, I slept a total of less than two hours on our plane to Paris. Upon our arrival, Drayton and I were hoping to catch the next train to Dijon but missed it by five minutes because we had TOO MUCH LUGGAGE! I will try to emphasize this even more: when traveling abroad DO NOT check two large bags. IT WILL NOT BE EFFICIENT. Ok, anyway. We then had to wait SEVEN HOURS in the Charles de Gaulle train station for the next train to Dijon at 7:41 pm. Without sleep, internet, or warmness, we entertained ourselves with card games and walking around the station with our luggage... FOR SEVEN HOURS.

Once we finally released our stress of finally got our luggage dispersed around the train, the stress of not knowing where we were going to stay the night in Dijon sunk in. With hope in our hearts, Drayton and I asked (in the beautiful French language) two policemen in the Dijon station where the nearest cheap hotel was. Their reply was music to our ears:we would see a hotel less that 300 feet in front of the train station. Little did we know that our arms would give out 5 feet into this 300 feet because we had been lugging our 120 lbs. of baggage around for more than 24 hours. Hence, it took us 25 minutes to stumble 300 feet to the hotel.

By the grace of God, there was a double room available for a descent price! After a long day, I could not wait to sleep, and sleep, and sleep.

That leads us up to now. After 14 hours of sleep, my sinus infection is still progressing but at least I am well-rested and able to begin my journey in France with a full day of adventure behind me.
